Police forces from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces have agreed to enhance their collaborative efforts to bolster security and public order along their shared border. This decision was reached during a recent conference held in Tây Ninh, where officials reviewed past cooperation and mapped out strategies to combat cross-border crime more effectively.
The meeting underscored the importance of continuous information exchange and coordinated actions against a range of criminal activities. Authorities from the four provinces have been actively working together to tackle issues such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud. The conference participants highlighted the necessity of maintaining direct communication and holding regular meetings to facilitate prompt responses to cross-border crime.
To further tighten security, the police forces agreed to increase patrols and monitoring of border trails and crossings. This measure aims to prevent illegal entries and exits that could aid organized transnational crime. Furthermore, the provinces plan to enhance their cooperative efforts in addressing terrorism, arms trafficking, and high-tech crime while also confronting emerging non-traditional security challenges.
The conference concluded with the signing of a cooperation memorandum. This agreement is intended to solidify the commitment of the involved parties to strengthen crime prevention strategies and maintain security and public order in the border regions. The collaborative framework outlined in the memorandum aims to ensure a more coordinated and robust response to the complex issues faced by these neighboring provinces.
