Cambodia and Cuba have taken a significant step towards enhancing their tourism collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement, signed by Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak and Milena Caridad Zaldívar Piedra, Cuba’s Ambassador to Cambodia, was formalized in Siem Reap province.
The MoU sets out a framework aimed at strengthening cooperation between the tourism authorities of both nations. Key objectives include promoting tourism development, facilitating knowledge and experience exchange, and broadening Cambodia’s tourism influence in Latin American markets. This initiative is built on principles of equality and mutual benefit, intending to foster new opportunities for tourism cooperation between the two countries.
Cambodia and Cuba have shared diplomatic relations since 1960, maintaining longstanding bilateral ties. This new agreement marks a continuation of their cooperative efforts, now specifically targeting the tourism sector. Through this collaboration, both countries hope to leverage each other’s strengths in tourism to benefit their economic and cultural exchanges.
