by admin477351

Indonesia and Serbia have committed to enhancing their bilateral cooperation across several key sectors, including trade, industrial development, food and energy security, and emerging technologies. This agreement was formalized during the fifth Bilateral Consultation Forum in Jakarta.

In a significant move, Indonesia extended an invitation to Serbia to collaborate on mineral exploration, nickel processing, and the electric vehicle supply chain. Discussions also ventured into areas like artificial intelligence, data centers, semiconductors, and digital transformation, signaling a broadening of focus in technological fields.

The two nations have seen their bilateral trade grow at an annual rate of 20.62% from 2021 to 2025, culminating in a trade volume of $53.6 million in 2025. To further boost this growth, both countries agreed to examine the potential for a free trade agreement and to establish a joint economic commission aimed at enhancing trade and access to Central and Eastern European markets.

Investment opportunities, industrial production, and employment cooperation were also part of the discussions. A significant aspect of the talks was exploring government-to-government arrangements to bolster the legal protection of Indonesian migrant workers in Serbia.

Reaffirming their commitment to sovereignty and territorial integrity, Indonesia and Serbia agreed to continue their dialogue, planning to hold the sixth Bilateral Consultation Forum in Serbia at a future date yet to be determined.
