Malaysia and Qatar have jointly called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in West Asia, emphasizing the need for quicker humanitarian aid delivery and enhanced diplomatic efforts to mitigate regional tensions. This stance was articulated following a telephone discussion between Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

During their conversation, the two leaders reviewed the ongoing developments in peace negotiations, focusing particularly on the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and efforts to de-escalate tensions involving Iran. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that Malaysia is committed to collaborating with Qatar and other regional partners to promote diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a sustainable peace.

In addition to discussing the conflict, the leaders also explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Qatar, with a particular emphasis on enhancing trade and investment ties.
